  • Children’s classroom activities are called “work,” as part of our strategy to develop a positive association between school, learning and work. Teachers incorporate “extracurricular” activities into the classroom, including music, art and more.

  • We offer three education programs: Primary Program (3 years old through kindergarten), Elementary I Program (6 to 9 years old), and Elementary II (9 to 12 years old). In each program, children develop independence, knowledge and confidence in their abilities.

  • All three programs are full day programs. Full day: 8:15 AM - 3:00 PM

  • Yes, we offer after school care from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM. We do not offer before school care. Students may be dropped off starting at 7:40 AM.

  • Discipline doesn’t mean to punish. It’s about repeatedly teaching the child what to do instead and helping the child understand the natural consequences of specific actions. We speak and listen to our students with respect and find ways to solve problems together.

  • Yes. Members of POBC receive a discounted rate. Please reach out to the Headmaster for more information. We also offer a discounted rate for each additional child enrolled.

  • Mixed age groups allow children to work at their own pace in a natural way. Older students are able to emerge as mentors and practice leadership skills. Younger students are fascinated when watching older student accomplish work slightly above their own skill levels. Older students serve as models motivating the younger students to proceed through the curriculum and to master more challenging work.

  • Through observation and evaluation, teachers watch for mastery before presenting new lessons. Progress reports are shared with parents.

  • Children in Montessori classrooms have learned principles such as courtesy, respect, positive decision making, conflict resolution, and more. These skills serve them well as they adjust to new schools and meet new people.
